Data protection

Privacy Policy

How Regnum Solicitors collects, uses and protects your personal data, and the rights you have over it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Regnum Solicitors of Unit 7, Kinetica, 13 Ramsgate Street, London E8 2FD is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA No 497260. You can contact us about data protection at info@regnumsolicitors.com or on +44 (0)20 7923 3855.

The information we collect

  • Identity and contact data — name, address, date of birth, email, telephone number, and identification documents required for anti-money-laundering checks.
  • Matter data — the information you give us about your transaction or case, and documents obtained on your behalf.
  • Financial data — bank details and source of funds evidence where a transaction requires it.
  • Technical data — for visitors to this website, basic server log information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To perform our contract with you — carrying out the legal work you instruct us to do.
  • To comply with legal obligations — including anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist financing checks, and our regulatory duties to the SRA.
  • For our legitimate interests — running and improving the firm, managing our files, and defending legal claims, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • With your consent — where you have asked us to contact you, for example when you call or email us. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where it is necessary: with the other side's solicitors, counsel, HM Land Registry, HM Revenue & Customs, the Home Office, lenders, search providers, identity verification and anti-money-laundering providers, our auditors and IT suppliers, and where we are required to do so by law or by our regulator.

How long we keep it

We retain files after completion for the period required by our professional obligations and our insurers, which is normally between six and fifteen years depending on the type of matter, after which they are securely destroyed.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to be informed, and rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, as well as rights in relation to automated decision-making. To exercise any of them, write to info@regnumsolicitors.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we would ask you to raise it with us first.
