What to expect
How the work runs
The process, the timescales and the third-party costs involved — so there are no surprises once you instruct us.
- Taking full instructions from you in order to provide an initial assessment, and advice about the current requirements of the Immigration Rules and how these apply to your circumstances
- After discussing your circumstances in detail, confirming which application is the most appropriate for you to make and what other options may be available to you
- Providing a comprehensive list of supporting documents
- Reviewing and considering your supporting documents
- Liaising with third parties when necessary to obtain additional evidence
- Preparing the relevant application forms, submitting these on your behalf and booking any necessary appointments
- Drafting detailed submissions and a cover letter in support of your application
- Advising on the application procedures and on likely time frames
- Advising on the outcome of the application and the necessary next steps
We will normally be able to submit your application within 2–4 weeks of you instructing us, but this may take longer depending on the issues below. In any case we will let you know at the earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer.
In our experience the vast majority of out-of-country applications are decided within 4 to 6 weeks, although some family-based applications can take longer (up to 12 weeks). Processing times for in-country applications can also vary depending on whether they are submitted as standard (up to six months, though usually no more than 3 months) or priority (within a few days, with payment of an additional Home Office fee).

We will advise you at the outset of all fees payable to the Home Office or other service providers relevant to your application. Home Office fees vary according to the type of application, and appointment costs vary depending on where and how the application is submitted and whether you use a priority service. The published fee list does not include the Immigration Health Surcharge, which we will calculate according to your personal circumstances.
